| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Statewide North Carolina Workforce for Health Initiative will provide a forum for health employers, workers, educators, regulators, policymakers, and others throughout North Carolina to convene, discuss challenges and opportunities, share best practices and lessons learned, identify potential solutions and metrics for success, and monitor progress toward developing, training and sustaining the health workforce required to meet population health needs. Feedback from extensive stakeholder interviews indicates the desire for immediate solutions to these urgent problems, and support for a forum to share emerging best practices and assistance in identifying practical solutions. There is broad consensus that sustained collaborative work will be necessary to create a statewide plan and system of workforce development that meets the needs of the population and prioritizes whole-person care, including the social drivers of health. |
| Position Summary |
Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs
The Senior Project Manager will be a key leader in advancing
SOM Workforce for Health's (
WFH) mission by spearheading strategic initiatives and managing critical projects. This high-level role encompasses strategic planning, resource optimization, stakeholder engagement, and comprehensive reporting. The Senior Project Manager will leverage advanced project management software to elevate WFH's platform and visibility. Additional responsibilities include developing methodologies for tracking and reporting, managing databases, collecting and analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Key responsibilities include driving the development and launch of innovative projects that align with
SOM WFH's strategic goals, leading the planning and design of projects to ensure they meet organizational objectives, and overseeing the allocation of resources to maximize efficiency. The Senior Project Manager will create and implement methodologies for tracking and reporting programs and personnel as resources, ensure accurate and up-to-date database entry and maintenance, and conduct data collection and analysis to support quality management efforts and reporting. They will manage administrative tasks related to project execution, develop and evaluate programs and policies to ensure they meet organizational standards, monitor compliance and manage audits. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager will provide timely updates to stakeholders, coordinate responses, manage expectations, oversee project timelines and schedules, and coordinate communication through listservs. They will develop detailed reports on project deliverables, prepare publications and reports to communicate project outcomes, maintain strict adherence to budget constraints, facilitate communication with multiple partners, and utilize advanced project management software to elevate
SOM WFH's platform and visibility. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Master's or Bachelor's and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution. |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Extensive experience in project management
Proficiency in industry-standard project management software and tools.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage project resources effectively.
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and detailed reporting. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Prefer extensive experience in project management within the healthcare, public health or higher educational sectors.
Demonstrates the ability to anticipate risks and develop plans with proactive contingencies.
Communicates the appropriate level of detail to the appropriate audience without prompting.
Synthesizes complex information into simple insights.
Exercises sound judgment in determining when to escalate, when to delegate, and when to act independently.
