SALARY RANGE: $85,000 to $90,000/annual
A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.

Position Summary:
Temple University Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry is searching for a motivated, goal-oriented, and results-driven candidate with proven experience in engaging and growing a donor pipeline to join our high-achieving team as Director of Development (DOD).
The DOD will work collaboratively with the Dean of the dental school and the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations, Health Sciences as well as other stakeholders to support the advancement of the Kornberg's mission of excellence in education, research, and patient care, with the goal of facilitating and managing activities to create and support a pipeline of annual and major giving prospects to achieve fundraising goals.
In collaboration with the Dean of the dental school and the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations, Health Sciences, the Dentistry the DOD will lead strategic fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives and advancing the Kornberg's philanthropic priorities.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least six years of fundraising and/or related experience successfully utilizing the required skills and abilities noted below. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Knowledge of, and experience with, both the art and science of major gift fundraising
*Demonstrated ability to raise and close gifts
*Proven ability to engage and interact effectively with diverse constituents and serve as a charismatic ambassador
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express information, including funding needs and giving opportunities
*Demonstrated interpersonal skills and success with developing and sustaining relationships with key constituents
*Proven ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively, as appropriate
*Conversational knowledge of basic planned/estate gift vehicles and concepts
*Attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment
*Commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored
*Strong work ethic and determination to achieve goals
*Capability with Microsoft 365, as well as Banner, FPM (Blackbaud), or similar CRM/fundraising databases
*Ability to travel and work evening/weekend hours, as needed

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
*PlusDelta, or other formal fundraising training completed
*Experience in an academic and/or medical advancement setting * Experience working in campaigns

Essential duties:
*Develop and implement strategies to leverage relationships with dental alumni to encourage leadership annual and major giving.
*Serve as a professional, engaging, and effective frontline representative of the School of Dentistry and Health Science Campus.
*Work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean and Dean to lead initiatives that strengthen alumni engagement and development efforts in the School of Dentistry to ensure purposeful alumni, prospect, and donor relations.
*Manage a small portfolio of prospects, mostly board members and other active alumni volunteers, ensuring strategies towards solicitation through regular interactions using personal or virtual visits, mail/email, telephone, and other activities.
*Steward donors for their support and communicate the impact of their gifts.
*Work in partnership with the Dean and Assistant Dean to build targeted outreach strategy to engage alumni to build pipeline and introduce never engaged alumni to the School of Dentistry.
*Act as a liaison to School of Dentistry Alumni Association and School of Dentistry Board of Visitors working with Assistant Dean and Dean to enhance their engagement.
*Work collaboratively with department and faculty leaders to identify strategic areas of support and engagement to engage alumni as speakers, presenters, and volunteers.
*In partnership with the School and Assistant Dean, plan and execute alumni events, including Reunion, specialty programs, local and regional events, career panels, etc.
*Collaborate and partner with the Dean, Assistant Dean, colleagues, leaders, and other stakeholders to set priorities, form strategies, and achieve objectives
*Utilize database to track and manage information, including timely and accurate documentation of meetings and conversations with donors, prospects, and other constituents
*Represent the dental school on university committees (e.g. Institutional Advancement committees), planning sessions, and other internal meetings and events.
