Provide strategic leadership to the organization to support business objectives and drive key HR initiatives in the areas of recruitment/retention, performance management, training and development, rewards and recognition, and employee/labor relations.

  • Take the lead on resolving employee relations matters; coach and guide managers in handling issues affecting
    employee performance and business effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership guidance in recruitment. Interviews and recommend quality hires of leadership positions tomanagement, as requested.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement HR policies and procedures that meet the organization's needs and complywith government and regulatory requirements. Provide interpretation of policies, practices and procedures to both management and staff.
  • Participate and assist in training and development activities including onboarding and orientation programs as requested. Assist in identifying training needs, research and prepare materials and present or facilitate sessions as appropriate.
  • Work with benefits team to manage leaves of absence, worker's compensation and other benefit related issues affecting managers and staff.
  • Investigates and prepares reports, documents and other materials for unemployment hearings and employment law cases in collaboration with Sr. HR leadership and legal counsel.
  • Take responsibility for investigating and preparing for unemployment hearings, grievances, arbitrations, and employment law cases. Conduct investigations, recommend approaches to defense, identifies, and prepares witnesses and assembles and prepares statements, documents, reports, and other materials as appropriate in consultation with Sr. HR leadership and legal counsel.
  • Take responsibility for facilitating and coordinating recognition events, meetings and other employee-related activities including but not limited to Essential Piece, Retirement celebrations, focus groups, Service Awards dinner.
  • Manages performance of direct reports. Provides orientation, coaching, training, and development. Take corrective action when necessary.
  • Utilizes corporate services resources such as HR, Compliance, Legal, Finance, IS, Marketing, etc. as appropriate.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing and resources to support department/agency services. Monitors productivity throughout the year and participates in annual budget preparation.
  • Interviews and participates in the selection process for qualified staff in collaboration with Human Resources and department management.
  • BA/BS in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years Human Resources generalist experience required, including at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Must have strong recruiting and employee/labor relations experience.
  • PHR or SPHR certification is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills are essential.
  • Strong computer skills with ability to use MS Office applications including Power Point, Word and Excel.
