Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences IT (HSIT) department is seeking
a seniorlevel technical professional to provide advanced leadership and
operational support for highperformance and dataintensive research computing
environments that serve health sciences initiatives. This role is central to
enabling datadriven research, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence in
healthcare through secure, reliable hybrid computing infrastructure spanning onpremises
systems, cloud platforms, and highspeed research networks. The position plays
a key role in supporting grantfunded research and ensuring research computing
services remain compliant, scalable, and sustainable.

Under general direction, the successful candidate will serve as a principal
technical resource and subjectmatter expert for research computing, working
closely with researchers, principal investigators, HSIT, and information
security teams. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and operating
hybrid research environments; supporting secure computing and enclave
operations; and enabling advanced research workflows through highperformance
computing (HPC), GPU accelerated systems, highspeed data transfer capabilities
and low latency interconnect technologies. This role requires strong
collaboration skills and the ability to translate complex research needs into
robust technical solutions.

This position offers an opportunity to directly support nationally competitive
research by contributing to the design and evolution of critical
infrastructure, monitoring emerging technologies, and identifying strategic
improvements in highperformance computing, cloud services, and secure research
environments. The role also contributes to infrastructure planning, cost
projections, and sustainability efforts that support ongoing and future
externally funded research initiatives.

This is a hybrid position. To be considered for the position, candidates must
submit a cover letter, completed UNM application, a resume and at least 3
professional references.

UNM HSC has earned a national and international reputation for its integrated education, patient care, research and partnership initiatives which address the unique healthcare needs of New Mexico's urban and rural populations. (http://hsc.unm.edu)
