The Opportunity The Field Safety Specialist will provide technical safety support, develop and implement hazard mitigation strategies, and lead peer teams to ensure safe work execution across all operational sites. This role requires demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a proven ability to influence and motivate core staff, line management, and contractors toward continuous safety performance improvement. Our US Safety team is expanding in Duluth, MN or St. Vincent, MN to support routine operations, special projects, construction activities, and emergency response within the region. We are seeking a Field Safety Specialist with knowledge and hands-on experience in occupational safety, process safety, and pipeline transmission operations, as well as background in construction and/or project execution. The ideal candidate will be a strong facilitator with strategic problem-solving skills, capable of independent decision-making and working effectively with minimal oversight. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are essential, along with the ability to organize and coordinate effectively with diverse teams. Minimum Qualifications * Technical acumen in confined space, electrical safety, lock out tag out (LOTO), hot work, elevated work, process safety, vehicle safety, and related areas * Strong organizational skills, technical competence, and attention to detail * Responsive to customer needs and requests. * Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) * Proven ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of varying sizes. * Certification or degree in a related discipline of Health, Safety and Environment or relevant experience in lieu of education. * Minimum of 8+ years of related experience * Proven ability to assess safety expectations and proactively course correct. * Anticipates and thrives in dynamic environments and changing requirements. * Exercises independent judgment in the planning, organization, and completion of assignments. * Experience with loss control, risk management, and safety programs * Comprehensive knowledge of applicable industry and government regulations including OSHA, FERC, PHMSA, CSB, and EPA. Preferred Qualifications * Certification or accreditation with a safety board (CSP or equivalent) * Advanced computer skills * Experience in major safety software such as Enablon, Blueworx, SAP.
