OVERVIEW

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information.

Schedule: Full-Time Salaried

Shift: Days, hours may vary based on need

Location: Janesville, WI

Pay Range:$76,061.05-117,894.62

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for coordination of Medicare and other governmental payment policies, compliance, and reporting for all hospital and clinic entities across the Mercy Health System.

  • This position will analyze internal and external data and information requests as well as perform research relative to Medicare and other governmental payer rules and regulations.

  • Manages and provides data support for the annual Medicare/Medicaid/BlueCross cost report submission to ensure accurate, timely, and proper reimbursements are received.

  • Works with external consultants and governmental auditors on a routine basis to provide supporting information. Also, works with outside consultants to complete accurate tax related documents. Often works under tight deadlines.

  • Works with other departmental staff and managers to prepare budgets for multiple entities and responds to questions from managers on budget issues and complex projects.

  • Prepares pro forma financial analyses of new or changed services within the system as needed.

  • Analyzes complex financial processes and recommends opportunities to improve system financial performance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting from four-year college or university or master's degree in a related field.
Five to ten years of experience, four of which must be in health care finance.
Must have high level of Medicare experience that includes experiences in preparation of Medicare/Medicaid cost reports, accounting and budgeting of patient revenue, Medicare Medicaid regulations and the analysis, modeling and reporting of other third party payers.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear, may be for extended periods. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Ability to use computer, keyboard, and other office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Some independent judgment is required, but alternatives are limited by standard practices or procedures.

$76,061.05 - $117,894.62
