As the Music Therapist at Westfields Hospital & Clinic and Lakeview Hospital, you will perform music therapy services in a professional and compassionate manner utilizing music therapy techniques appropriate for the individual patient and for groups; documents each session in the patient's electronic medical chart (EPIC); provides referrals for additional therapies when appropriate & necessary. Participates as an integral member of an interdisciplinary health care team. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Reviews patient chart and assesses patient in order to determine & develop appropriate music therapy session for patient.
- Provides music therapy sessions (individual sessions and group sessions) consistent with education provided in an accredited music therapy program.
- Maintains excellent working relationships with both patients and staff
- Documents each patient music therapy session in the electronic medical record, EPIC, in a timely manner (same day of service). Documentation includes entering patient data which helps to establish measurable outcomes.
- Develops collaborative, professional relationships with other interdisciplinary health care providers to enhance integrative care.
- Assists in the development of/implement standards of care and practice guidelines for music therapy practice at Westfields Hospital & Clinic and Lakeview Hospital.
- Participates in public speaking opportunities, lectures and other community and professional educational opportunities to help further the mission & vision of the Integrative Therapies Program within Westfields Hospital & Clinic and Lakeview Hospital when assigned.
Work Schedule:
- 40 hours weekly / 1.0 FTE
- Full-time
- Day Shift
- 2 days/week at Westfields Hospital & Clinic, 3 days/week at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in music therapy from a college or university accredited by the American Music Therapy Association and has completed an internship.
- Current board certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists or board certification is obtained within three months from date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience providing music therapy in a variety of health-care settings.
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of the professional ethics and values of music therapy practice.
- Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
