Job Description
The Factory Hygienist is responsible for ensuring high standards of hygiene, sanitation, food safety, and pest control within a low-acid beverage manufacturing facility. This role supports compliance with FDA, FSMA, and HACCP requirements and focuses on environmental control, hygienic practices, sanitation effectiveness, and integrated pest management.


Job Duties:


  • Oversee external sanitation and equipment cleanliness across production lines (hot fill, aseptic, carbonation)
  • Validate sanitation effectiveness through visual inspection, ATP verification, and microbiological testing
  • Lead environmental monitoring program targeting yeast, mold, and Alicyclobacillus
  • Trend and analyze environmental and sanitation data to identify risks
  • Conduct GMP and hygiene audits across production and support areas
  • Support hygienic zoning and cross-contamination control practices
  • Partner with operations and maintenance to improve hygienic design
  • Participate in root cause analysis for contamination events
  • Lead sanitation training and food safety culture initiatives
  • Manage integrated pest control program in collaboration with third-party provider
  • Review pest control reports, trend activity, and drive corrective actions
  • Conduct facility inspections to ensure pest prevention (structural gaps, door controls, housekeeping)
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and audit pest control requirements

Qualification
Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred
  • 2--5 years experience in beverage or food manufacturing
  • Experience in low-acid beverages (hot fill, aseptic, or carbonation) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, microbiology (yeast/mold), and pest management principles
