THE POSITION

Begin a rewarding path as a Staff Physician 2 with the Department of Human Services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays a central role in providing medical assessments, coordinating care and supporting patient treatment across assigned areas. The job focuses on examinations, planning, direct medical care and teamwork to ensure safe and effective services.

As a Staff Physician 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Medical Examinations: Performs admission physical and neurological exam and medical/surgical history on all new admissions within 24 hours of admission
  • Daily Care: Provide ongoing medical treatment by making unit rounds and reviewing diagnostic results
  • Emergency Response: Announces the medical emergency and initiates appropriate medical actions/interventions
  • Care Coordination: Work with treatment teams and community hospitals to support consistent and informed care
  • Record Keeping: Document medical issues, treatment plans and patient progress in accordance with policy
  • Staff Participation: Attend meetings and contribute medical expertise to support hospital operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime as needed

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $184,236.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience and/or training in the practice of medicine.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Medicine Board, or the State Osteopathic Medicine Board.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular posting also requires completion of a residency in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
