Associate Project Manager I (Electrical) New York, NY Pay: $37.00 - $48.00 per hour 26-06623 Job Summary The Associate Project Manager I (Electrical) provides field engineering, inspection, and project management support for electrical construction and infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for monitoring construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements, and supporting project execution through field inspections, contractor coordination, documentation review, and reporting. The position requires a combination of technical and administrative responsibilities and involves extensive fieldwork, including work within active transportation and infrastructure environments. Job Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections of electrical installations and construction activities under general supervision.
- Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable codes.
- Provide field engineering support for electrical construction and infrastructure projects.
- Review contractor submittals, requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, and project documentation.
- Assist in the evaluation of change order proposals and support project cost and schedule assessments.
- Prepare inspection reports, project status reports, meeting summaries, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, engineering teams, operations personnel, and project stakeholders.
- Support project planning, execution, and closeout activities.
- Track project progress and identify potential risks, delays, or construction issues.
- Assist with quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure adherence to project management procedures, guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Support projects utilizing design-bid-build and design-build delivery methods.
- Perform additional project-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrated project management experience supporting construction, infrastructure, or engineering projects.
- Experience performing field inspections and contractor oversight.
- Knowledge of electrical construction, infrastructure systems, and related engineering practices.
- Experience reviewing submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Knowledge of electrical, communications, and fire alarm systems, construction methods, and applicable codes and standards.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and quality assurance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience preparing reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and communicate project information effectively.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including engineering, operations, construction, and consulting teams.
- Experience with project management systems and document control processes.
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat required.
- Experience with project management platforms, CADD software, and construction management tools preferred.
- Knowledge of transportation, infrastructure, transit, heavy civil, or utility projects preferred.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline and a minimum of two years of relevant experience required.
OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience required.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling six years may be considered.
- Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) credentials are a plus.
Work Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience serving in a supervisory capacity or managing construction-related projects.
- Experience supporting large-scale or complex construction projects preferred.
- Experience with electrical construction, power systems, communications systems, or fire alarm projects preferred.
- Experience working in transportation, transit, infrastructure, heavy civil, utility, or public-sector environments preferred.
- Experience with design-bid-build and design-build project delivery methods preferred.
- Experience utilizing project management and document control systems preferred.
