Job Summary

The Senior Structural/Civil Engineer is responsible for engineering, designing, and supporting facility-related capital improvement and operations projects. This role involves the development of structural and civil engineering solutions for commercial buildings, service centers, and yard facilities. The position requires expertise in structural design, project planning, design package preparation, cost-benefit analysis, system inspections, and root cause investigations. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to deliver safe, efficient, and code-compliant engineering solutions.

Job Responsibilities



  • Engineer and design projects supporting capital improvement and operations and maintenance initiatives.
  • Prepare and review engineering design packages, including specifications and construction drawings.
  • Review contractor shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and engineering standards.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and conceptual studies to determine optimal design solutions.
  • Prepare project budgets and support the development of appropriation requests.
  • Provide structural and civil engineering support for facility-related projects and infrastructure systems.
  • Perform root cause investigations and develop corrective action recommendations.
  • Conduct field inspections and assessments of structural and civil systems.
  • Collaborate with internal design teams, project stakeholders, and external engineering consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of structural and civil engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing steel, concrete, and masonry structures.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards, including AISC, ACI, ASCE, and relevant building codes.
  • Experience preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Ability to review contractor submittals and shop drawings.
  • Experience performing structural assessments, system inspections, and engineering investigations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in civil and structural engineering.
  • Experience supporting commercial building, facility, infrastructure, or industrial projects preferred.
