Quality Coordinator - Asheville

Reports to: Director of Quality and Engineering

Supervises: N/A

Summary Statement: Under the general supervision of the Director of Quality and Engineering, the employee in this position is primary support for quality in Asheville, assuring finished goods meet contract specifications and quality standards using standard auditing techniques following all established work and safety procedures.

Essential Job Functions



  • Inspect and verify accuracy of all incoming raw materials.
  • Evaluate and verify in-process and finished products, documenting findings.
  • Respond to supervisor and operator inquiries regarding product quality.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any process/product nonconformance.
  • Accurately complete daily inspection reports.
  • Remain current in all areas pertaining to quality.
  • Provide on-the-job training for new inspectors as needed.
  • Perform computer data entry as required.
  • Assure wash tests are properly completed and documents developed prior to the need for submittal to the QAR.
  • Primary point of contact for DCMA-QAR in Asheville.
  • Schedule QAR requests and add to calendar, inviting those as needed.
  • Assure all required documents for QAR submission are completed correctly and distributed to the QAR prior to the inspection date.


Marginal Job Functions



  • Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
  • Participate in training and meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities



  • Must be able to bend, walk and stand for up to 10hours per day.
  • Must be able to work 10-hour shifts.
  • Must be able to work both planned and unplanned overtime.
  • Must be able to visually perform product inspections.
  • Must have strong math skills, including working with measurement tools, decimals, and fractions.
  • Must be able to read, write, and interpret instructions.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to professionally encourage and facilitate cooperation and teamwork to reach a common goal.
  • Must have the skill to act in a tactful, sensitive manner.
  • Must be able to comprehend and perform duties using established work and safety procedures.
  • Must speak and understand English.


Education and Work Experience



  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1-3 years previous quality inspection experience is preferred
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 quality management system environment is preferred.
  • Experience in planning and conducting ISO 9001 internal audits is preferred.
