The role will be accountable for building, leading, and managing a high performing field-based team, and overseeing commercial field activities.

The National Project Director (NPD) will have direct responsibilities for the execution of the customer's strategic and tactical plans to meet and exceed performance goals. All plans are executed in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations when representing product(s) to healthcare providers. This individual will work with field-based and home-office teams including, but not limited to Training, Marketing, Market Access and Sales Operations to drive the commercial strategy and overall performance of the assigned brand.

Responsibilities

The NPD is expected to build a high-performance field organization while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and a sense of urgency towards the achievement of desired goals and outcomes. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of all market trends and business dynamics Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead their team in deriving, validating, and leveraging customer and account insights on a regular basis. Work with team to develop solutions that best address those needs while facilitating involvement of the necessary business personnel inclusive of support, service, and resource management in order to meet key account performance objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional account planning for successful execution of launch strategy.
  • Responsible for gaining and applying a deep understating of relevant markets, business models, strategic priorities, future direction, financial drivers and leadership profiles of key customers within hospitals and IDNs. This includes understanding and engaging in key local and national, health care issues/strategies, customer issues/trends, pathway and quality trends and best practices to establish credibility beyond product and therapeutic areas.
  • Take an active leadership role with team to ensure the development and pull through of Strategic Account plans.
  • Cultivate effective relationships with Key influencers to possibly include C-Suite and administrative roles within an account (not limited to CEO, CFO, CMO, Pharmacy Director, Medical Director, Case Management, Dir. of Quality, Industry Relations, Technology Dir, etc.).
  • Hire, develop, train, coach, assess, motivate and retain talent to meet the evolving needs of customers and drive business results.
  • Develop and present in conjunction with the team sound clinical, pharmaco-economic and business presentations to appropriate customers based on mutual needs/benefits.
  • Review and analyze product performance at the regional & local level and communicate account performance broadly with key internal stakeholders.
  • Point-Lead for ALL internal Partners, including but not limited to: Incentive Compensation Design/Implementation, HR, CRM Platform, Compliance, Finance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical sales experience with at least 5 years of 2nd line or national pharmaceutical sales management experience with demonstrated success in product launches and building high-performance sales teams.
  • GI/Hepatology/Rare Disease experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated record of leading and coaching successful sales leaders and teams in an environment requiring a high level of initiative & accountability
  • Direct and strong experience working with institutional key accounts, key opinion leaders, and/or executive-level customers of high influence in large practices, hospitals, and community
  • Demonstrated success working in a small to mid-size biotech company, reflecting an entrepreneurial culture and innovative mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a high level of productivity and priority-setting in order to deliver on organizational goals.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and work with a high level of integrity.
  • A highly effective collaborator who understands the importance of team collaboration with all company stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective clinical acumen to facilitate rapport with KOLs, community HCPs, institutional/IDN leadership.
  • Product marketing, specialty pharmacy and payer experience are a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestic
  • Able to meet credentialing requirements for access to academic institutions, medical facilities, and organizations that are in the assigned territory. These may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization and/or vaccinations. Failure to meet all requirements may prevent an employee from performing all essential job responsibilities.
