Location: Norwood, MA (Hybrid - Approximately 4 Days Onsite)

This division is the agency's specialized healthcare sector, partnering with leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and diagnostics companies to create engaging patient experiences, improve adherence, and drive meaningful business outcomes through innovative multi-channel marketing.

Position Overview

The Client Services Director / Account Director blends deep client relationship management with strategic, integrated marketing expertise. As the primary client partner, you'll be responsible for delivering exceptional service while translating business objectives into impactful marketing strategies and flawlessly executed campaigns.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Client Services, you'll lead one of the agency's strategic pharmaceutical accounts, partnering closely with cross-functional teams across Client Services, Creative, Strategy, Content, Project Management, and Production. While this role does not have direct reports, you'll provide day-to-day leadership to ensure successful execution and an exceptional client experience.

This position supports a dedicated pharmaceutical client -the work focuses on developing integrated marketing programs that educate, engage, and support patients after a therapy has been prescribed-helping improve patient adherence, access to care, and the overall treatment experience.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management



  • Serve as the primary strategic contact for assigned healthcare and pharmaceutical clients.
  • Build and maintain trusted, long-term client relationships through frequent communication and proactive partnership.
  • Accurately interpret client feedback and communicate priorities across internal teams.
  • Anticipate challenges and identify opportunities to strengthen relationships and grow accounts.
  • Recognize successes while continually identifying opportunities for improvement with both clients and internal teams.


Strategic Account Leadership



  • Develop a thorough understanding of each client's products, services, brand positioning, competitive landscape, and business objectives.
  • Interpret market research and customer insights to develop actionable marketing recommendations.
  • Translate client goals into integrated, measurable, multi-channel marketing strategies.
  • Ensure all recommendations and initiatives support brand positioning and strategic objectives.
  • Champion your client's brand while identifying opportunities for innovation and account growth.
  • Partner with agency leadership to develop new ideas aligned with client and agency business objectives.


Integrated Marketing Leadership

Lead strategic marketing initiatives across multiple channels, including:



  • Digital marketing
  • Websites and microsites
  • Email marketing
  • SMS campaigns
  • Video
  • Social media
  • Direct mail
  • Print
  • Paid media
  • Events and experiential marketing


Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Partner closely with Project Management, Creative, Strategy, Content, and Production teams.
  • Provide leadership across multidisciplinary teams that may include Client Services Coordinators, Project Managers, Art Directors, Designers, Copywriters, and Content Strategists.
  • Deliver polished presentations that educate, influence, and engage senior client stakeholders.
  • Independently manage multiple priorities while ensuring high-quality execution and outstanding client service.


Agency Leadership



  • Recommend solutions aligned with agency capabilities and client objectives.
  • Professionally defend strategic recommendations and agency work products.
  • Effectively utilize agency tools, resources, and processes to maximize client success.


Qualifications



  • 7+ years of account management or client services experience within a healthcare or pharmaceutical marketing agency.
  • Current or previous experience as an Account Director, Client Services Director, Group Account Supervisor, or an accomplished Senior Account Manager ready to step into a Director-level role.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare marketing and the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and global pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and/or diagnostics markets.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex client relationships and growing strategic accounts.
  • Proven experience developing and executing integrated marketing strategies in highly regulated environments.
  • Expertise across omnichannel marketing, including email, SMS, web, direct mail, print, media, social, events, and experiential marketing.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong business judgment, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to independently manage complex client initiatives.


Preferred



  • Experience supporting Patient Support Services (PSS), patient engagement, patient education, or patient adherence programs.
  • Experience working with Medical, Legal & Regulatory (MLR) review processes.
  • Experience using Veeva or similar pharmaceutical content management platforms.
  • Experience developing patient-facing marketing assets, including digital campaigns, microsites, video, branding, and email marketing.
  • Experience interpreting healthcare market research and translating findings into actionable business strategies.


Who We're Looking For

The strongest candidates will come from healthcare marketing agencies supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or diagnostics organizations. We are looking for professionals who have built trusted relationships with brand managers, marketing directors, and commercial leaders within the life sciences industry and understand the pace, complexity, and regulatory requirements of agency work.



  • Candidates whose experience is primarily in hospitals, physician practices, health systems, long-term care, assisted living, health insurance, or general marketing roles without pharmaceutical agency experience are unlikely to be successful in this position.
