Business Analyst III, CTSI Data Warehouse

Summary

Leads a full range of activities that ensure access, compliant use, and effectiveness of research informatics systems and workflows that support a wide variety of use cases. Guides the design, documentation, testing, implementation, and improvement of user systems and workflows that improve institutional efficiencies and optimize resources. Plays a key role in optimizing clinical trial initiation times across the institution.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Translates business requirements into business solutions; acts as liaison between departmental leaders, staff and information technology staff to design and configure business solutions to ensure business requirements have been met.

  • Works closely with stakeholders to define business requirements and with technical staff to develop solution alternatives and actively participates in defining objectives to support changing business needs and availability.

  • Coordinates systems and user experience troubleshooting and day to day activities within the department to ensure seamless and minimal downtime of hardware, software and reporting requirements.

  • Manages projects/tasks of any scale with moderate to high complexity while representing the department on larger enterprise-wide project teams.

  • Monitors process efficiency metrics to support specific institutional goals.

  • Provides project team updates regularly to review project deliverables and deadlines.

  • Trains others regarding the various techniques to elicit, analyze and communicate requirements within assigned functional areas.

  • Participates in research informatics systems upgrade/conversion testing.

  • Leads with project intake and end-user training.

  • Recommends information technology solutions to meet business needs and coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of these solutions.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
  • Knowledge of computers, electronics, digital media, databases, applications, software development, risk management, and information security.

  • Customer support, systems analysis, troubleshooting, problem solving, and listening skills.

Qualifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum Required Experience: 5 year's

  • Preferred Experience: Medical terminology; Epic Cogito, Cosmos, Beacon or Revenue Cycle and/or clinical trials feasibility/operations; SQL, Python, or R

  • Preferred Certification/Licensure(s): CCRC, Medical Coding Certification

Physical Requirements

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
