Essential Job Duties	Duties include: Operates and maintains GC-MS, GC, anaerobic chambers, biosafety cabinets, flow cytometer, plate readers, spectrophotometers, and other laboratory equipment as needed Performs cultivation of archaea/bacteria and develops customized biological and chemical assays Performs technical laboratory procedures that include but are not limited to gas chromatography, mass spec, flow cytometry, PCR, and extraction and gel electrophoresis of DNA, RNA, and protein Maintains laboratory notebooks, records, and analyzes experimental data Develops and validates new procedures or follows established procedures and properly record results Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports and manuscripts Assists in training users of shared equipment located in the laboratory Helps with laboratory management

Department Required Skills	Experience working in a Higher Ed research laboratory environment 5 years of laboratory experience
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education	Experience supporting microbial, molecular biology, or related biological research programs Experience with laboratory organization, sample processing, data collection, and research support activities Experience working in PMB or a comparable academic research environment
Required License or Certification	Valid driver's license
