| Essential Job Duties |
Duties include:
- Operates and maintains GC-MS, GC, anaerobic chambers, biosafety cabinets, flow cytometer, plate readers, spectrophotometers, and other laboratory equipment as needed
- Performs cultivation of archaea/bacteria and develops customized biological and chemical assays
- Performs technical laboratory procedures that include but are not limited to gas chromatography, mass spec, flow cytometry, PCR, and extraction and gel electrophoresis of DNA, RNA, and protein
- Maintains laboratory notebooks, records, and analyzes experimental data
- Develops and validates new procedures or follows established procedures and properly record results
- Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports and manuscripts
- Assists in training users of shared equipment located in the laboratory
- Helps with laboratory management
