Salary:

$70-77.29 Hourly

We are seeking a specialized UX & Lifecycle Writer for a long-term contract position with our client, a global leader in technology and digital services.

In this role, you won't just be writing clever copy-you will be the dedicated medium specialist driving user growth, onboarding, and feature retention across a massive ecosystem of digital services. Sitting within the services design organization, you will collaborate heavily with cross-functional product and marketing teams to guide users through seamless digital journeys.

While this role touches in-app touchpoints, the primary focus is crafting high-performing, action-driven email experiences designed to change user behavior and deepen feature adoption.

  • Location: Hybrid; Culver City, CA
  • Schedule: In-Office T/W/Th; Remote M/F
  • Pay Comments: W2, weekly pay, benefits, 401k w/ match
  • Background screening required

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Lifecycle Medium: Act as the dedicated specialist translating complex product features across multiple lines of business into highly engaging onboarding, activation, and re-engagement email campaigns.
  • Craft End-to-End Journeys: Write clear, impactful copy across the entire user lifecycle, including emails, push notifications, in-app marketing upsells, and full product screens.
  • Drive Behavioral Change: Design copy strategies that encourage users to try new features, learn new skills, and build long-term habits within digital applications.
  • Balance UX and Brand: Advocate fiercely for the user experience (respecting character limits, screen context, and user flow) while seamlessly aligning with established brand guidelines, tone, and business requirements.
  • Collaborate & Iterate: Partner closely with full-time product writers, growth teams, and product designers. Actively participate in a highly collaborative, feedback-driven creative culture, utilizing A/B testing and performance data to continuously refine copy.

Candidate Requirements

  • Action-Driven Email Expertise: Proven experience writing strategic lifecycle email campaigns focused on user onboarding, feature activation, and churn reduction.
  • Product-Led Growth Mindset: A background writing for apps or platforms that require driving behavioral change or skill-learning (e.g., health/fitness, mental wellness, habit-building, or productivity apps). Note: Straight e-commerce, fashion, or physical product acquisition experience is not a fit for this role.
  • Data & Results-Oriented: A resume and portfolio that demonstrates a clear understanding of growth metrics (e.g., click-through rates, open rates, feature adoption milestones).
  • Strong Creative Articulation: The ability to clearly explain, contextualize, and defend your copy choices to stakeholders, turning subjective writing into objective, strategic decisions.
  • In-App UX Writing: Experience writing inside the product environment (modals, push notifications, and tooltips), keeping a close eye on user navigation and technical constraints.

Soft Skills for Success

  • Receptive to Feedback: Thrives in a highly collaborative, iterative "feedback culture" with multiple rounds of cross-functional reviews.
  • Low Ego, High Collaborative Spirit: Ability to leave the chaos outside the room, take constructive criticism with a positive attitude, and pivot copy strategies dynamically.
  • Self-Directed: Comfortable picking up weekly incoming requests, managing variable content sheets, and working autonomously across different product lines.
