| Posting Summary |
Rutgers University - Newark, an urban public research anchor institution located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Business Assistant II. This position will report to the Associate Director Supervisor to provide administrative support in the preparation and maintenance of fiscal accounts for the Cornwall Center. This person may serve as a point of contact between Rutgers Administrative Offices and Center researchers and program staff to clarify and/or obtain additional information that assists with submitting requisitions and processing payments
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Maintains a shadow system for profit & loss of each program administered by the Center and uses Oracle Cloud and Marketplace, Tableau financial system, and open commitment reports by natural account.
- Reviews general ledger and other reporting systems on a regular basis to ensure fiscal compliance, reconciles accounts, and maintains accurate internal records for income and expenses on all accounts.
- Prepares paperwork necessary to maintain accounts in good standing.
- Works with university departments for purchasing matters and payment of hourly employees and consultants.
- Coordinates with staff on all supply orders and manages requests from Center staff.
- Communicates as needed with vendors and university offices such as Purchasing and Accounts Payable.
- Assists the Associate Director Supervisor in reconciling payroll to the general ledger.
- Performs daily business and related administrative activities - evaluates and prepares travel reimbursements, assures compliance with university policy.

Qualifications

- Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.

- Requires good communication skills and computer literacy.

- Requires knowledge of the federal grants process and familiarity with the Marketplace, Tableau, and Oracle reports are preferable.
