Summary/Primary Purpose: This position serves as a key ambassador for The Salvation Army (TSA) Capital Area Command by building strong and meaningful relationships throughout Des Moines and central Iowa and increasing community awareness, engagement, volunteer involvement, and participation in The Salvation Army's programs and events. Also supports both Capital Area Command-wide initiatives and local corps community engagement efforts throughout the command. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises seasonal employees and volunteers. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate degree required, in communications, public relations, nonprofit management, marketing, event management, community development, or a combination of education and experience. Prefer at least 3 years' experience. Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 30 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: N/A Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Working Conditions: The typical work environment is an office environment, with moderate to loud noise, and may include varying temperatures that may be encountered in the facility, public venues and outside. Events and community engagement may be conducted in indoor or outdoor facilities and spaces where noise and temperatures may vary.
