Kansas State University's Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina seeks candidates for a non-tenure track, 9-month Aviation faculty position. This is a teaching-centered role supporting undergraduate aviation education across multiple programs, with assignments based on departmental needs and the candidate's qualifications.

The faculty member's duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching undergraduate aviation courses and associated labs across one or more aviation programs (for example, professional pilot, professional aviation, aviation management, aviation maintenance, UAS, and related areas) as assigned.
- Developing, delivering, and assessing high-quality, student-centered instruction in alignment with program outcomes, accreditation requirements, and departmental standards.
- Using appropriate educational technology and learning management systems (such as Canvas) to support course delivery, assessment, and student engagement.
- Contributing to a strong safety and professionalism culture within the aviation programs, modeling industry best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Participating in departmental activities that support student success and program operations (such as limited advising/mentoring, committee work, or outreach), as assigned by the department.
About Us
Kansas State University Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus is located in Salina, Kansas - a town of approximately 50,000 in close proximity to two major highways, and 65 miles west of K-State's main campus in Manhattan. The Salina campus is centered around the student experience emphasizing innovative learning, real-world experiences and industry connections. We are a tight-knit family with a small college feel and the resources of a Big 12 university.
Worksite Description
This position is On-site. All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in aviation or a broadly defined related field (for example, aviation, aeronautical/aerospace discipline, or a closely related technical or educational field as approved by the department).
- OR, a Bachelor's Degree plus six years of relevant industry experience
The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level. Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior collegiate or postsecondary teaching experience.
- FAA pilot certifications and ratings (preferred, not required):
- Commercial pilot certificate with instrument rating
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)
- Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI)
- Certificated Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII)
- Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI)
- Experience in one or more aviation domains aligned with campus programs, such as:
- Professional pilot training (private, instrument, commercial)
- Aviation safety, human factors, crew resource management, and/or safety management systems
- Advanced aircraft systems, turbine or transport operations, or airline-oriented training
- Aviation management, airport or air carrier operations, or aviation maintenance/avionics contexts
- Use of simulation and instructional technology in aviation training
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality teaching in a collegiate setting and the ability to work effectively with a variety of student populations.
