Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to the One Energy Plaza Headquarterslocated in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Strategic Advisor is a highly impactful role that serves as a trusted partner and force multiplier to the President of Electric Supply. This role ensures alignment, cohesion, and disciplined execution of Electric Supply priorities while connecting the business unit's work to enterprise strategy, internal and external customer experience, operational excellence, customer affordability, reliability, safety, and the clean energy transition.



This role functions in a chief-of-staff capacity for the President of Electric Supply, helping the President focus on the highest-value priorities, strengthen leadership team alignment, and ensure disciplined follow-through across the business.



The Strategic Advisor enables high-impact decision-making, strengthens executive effectiveness, and improves cross-functional coordination by translating complex priorities into clear operating rhythms, measurable outcomes, executive-ready materials, and timely follow-through.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Execution Partner with the President of Electric Supply to translate enterprise and business unit strategy into clear priorities, operating plans, leadership actions, and measurable results. Drive execution of critical objectives related to safety, reliability, affordability, clean energy transition, resource planning, asset performance, generation availability, and cost discipline. Lead strategic initiatives, monitor progress, mitigate risks, remove barriers, and ensure accountability and timely delivery.



Executive Advisory Serve as a trusted advisor to the President, providing guidance on priorities, stakeholder engagement, decision-making, change leadership, and sensitive business matters. Enhance executive effectiveness with the CEO, COO, Board of Directors, regulators, peer leaders, and key stakeholders by preparing recommendations, challenging assumptions, clarifying trade-offs, and ensuring decision readiness.



Governance & Operating Rhythm Establish and manage effective operating cadences, including leadership meetings, staff councils, operating reviews, strategic forums, and priority reviews. Drive disciplined execution through structured agendas, decision frameworks, action tracking, and visibility into risks, dependencies, and escalation items.



Leadership Team Effectiveness & Culture Strengthen leadership alignment and organizational effectiveness through strategic planning, talent discussions, and leadership forums. Foster a high-performing culture built on trust, accountability, collaboration, inclusion, psychological safety, and enterprise-first thinking. Partner with Human Resources on talent management, succession planning, leadership development, and culture initiatives, while influencing leaders through coaching, facilitation, and collaboration.



Executive Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Develop and coordinate executive communications, including town halls, leadership messaging, Board presentations, strategic updates, and stakeholder communications. Translate business strategy into clear, actionable messaging that reinforces priorities and maintains alignment during leadership transitions, major initiatives, and regulatory interactions.



Cross-Functional Integration Act as a central connector across Electric Supply, the COO organization, and enterprise partners. Build alignment among Finance, HR, Regulatory, Legal, Strategy, Supply Chain, Communications, Digital, Lean, and Project Management teams. Resolve cross-functional barriers, clarify ownership, and coordinate stakeholders to ensure successful execution of business priorities and enterprise commitments.

  • Safety, reliability, affordability, clean energy, and Integrated Resource Plan priorities are consistently reinforced in leadership actions, communications, and deliverables.
  • The President is well-prepared for high-stakes forums and able to engage with confidence, clarity, and enterprise perspective.Work moves faster with fewer unresolved handoffs, clearer escalation paths, and better alignment across functions

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business related field and 7+ years of experience in strategic planning, communications, marketing and/or business.
  • [OR] Associate'sdegree in Business related field and 9+ years of experience in strategic planning, communications, marketing and/or business.
  • [OR] High School diploma and 11+ years of experience in strategic planning, communications, marketing and/or business.
