Position description

The van Dam laboratory in the Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging at the University of California, Los Angeles is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated postdoc to join their multidisciplinary research program, which focuses on the development of innovative microscale platforms for high-throughput radiolabeling as well as high-throughput radioassays and analytical radiochemistry measurements.

In particular, the candidate will be working on the development of a novel high-sensitivity measurement technology to assess radiotracer uptake in biological cells, with a wide range of applications in disease biology, drug discovery, and nuclear medicine.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or similar field with a focus on microfluidic device physics, applications, design, and fabrication. Prior experience in fluidic circuit design and CAD, microfabrication, prototyping, and characterization of microfluidic devices and systems is required. Experience in PDMS microfluidics, microfluidic process engineering, automation of microfluidic assays and processes, working with mammalian cells and working with radiolabeled compounds would be especially advantageous, but is not required and can be introduced to the candidate through hands-on experience.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and systematic, motivated by new technology and applications, and will possess excellent critical thinking, experiment planning, and communication (oral and written) skills.
