Job Summary

Reporting to the North America Senior Manager of Accounting, the North America Accounting Manager is responsible for operating expense, transportation and certain commercial accounts of the North America ("NA") Global Pet Care ("GPC") and Global Home Care ("GHC") business units, to include, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Company's financial results, and ensure that reported results are timely and comply with U.S. GAAP, local and regional requirements, legal mandates, and internal policies and controls. The NA Accounting Manager will carry out these responsibilities with exemplary leadership characteristics, building relationships and working collaboratively in a matrixed environment, and with constant focus on the latest technologies and process design to drive a lean and cost-effective accounting function.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely, accurate, and complete month-end close process for operating expense, transportation, distribution and certain commercial accounts of the NA GPC and GHC business units.
  • Preparation, of GPC freight accruals and GPC and GHC A/P accruals and account reconciliations to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies and SOX controls.
  • Review of returns reserve, third-party logistics (3PL) accruals, prepaid asset amortization, marketing accruals, and intercompany profit eliminations journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure financial reporting internal controls compliance over inventory, operating expense, transportation and certain commercial accounts.
  • Document certain GPC Canada and GHC distribution center inventory controls.
  • Responsible for complete and accurate GPC freight accounting.
  • Collaboration with Supply Chain Finance, Asia Transportation Office, and Logistics to ensure accuracy of freight accruals.
  • Review and oversight of 3PL distribution invoice reconciliations.
  • Ensure solutions to business challenges are implemented.
  • Proactively partner with BU Operations Finance to foster strong collaboration.

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years of related experience required
  • CPA preferred
  • Role not eligible for sponsorship

Work Environment

This is a hybrid work arrangement which includes working from home on Monday and Friday and working in the office Tuesday through Thursday.

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
