THE POSITION

As an Administrative Assistant 1 with the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR), you will have the opportunity to support important financial and administrative work within the Pinchot Forest District. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the Pinchot Forest District by coordinating purchasing, budget tracking, personnel processes, and general office duties. Through your work, you will help to ensure that district operations stay organized, efficient, and compliant with state procedures. As an Administrative Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Procurement Support: Prepare purchasing documents, review requests, and process transactions using state procurement systems
  • Budget Management: Maintain district budgets, monitor spending, and prepare financial summaries and reports
  • Personnel Administration: Process HR transactions, maintain employee records, and assist with workers compensation documentation
  • Fire Program Assistance: Process fire bills, travel reimbursements, and dispatch communications for wildfire and emergency responses
  • Clerical Backup: Provide support for payroll, timekeeping, receptionist duties, and general office coordination
  • Permit Processing: Issue wood permits, camping permits, and other district authorizations while maintaining accurate logs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime may be required occasionally for emergencies, trainings, and other operational needs.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in North Abington Township. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
