Titles: Tissue Receiving Coordinator I/II/III/IV Department #: 131
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Tissue Receiving Supervisor
(Exempt or Non-Exempt)
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for the critical processes related to received donor tissue and to the final destination.
Shifts are either
Tuesday-Saturday (Mid shift 1300-2130)
OR
Tuesday-Saturday (2nd shift 1600-0030)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Tissue Receiving Coordinator I (Starting section will be based on department needs)
Section A
- Prepares tissue for shipment by packaging and labeling to internal/external facilities.
- Performs pre-processing cultures.
- Performs discard process accurately and in a timely manner.
- Responsible for temperature monitoring and alarm handling of storage units.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
OR
Section B
- Receives donor tissue into Solvita-Dayton. Inspects packaging, labeling, and associated documents for accuracy and donor traceability.
- Packages and ensures tissue, cultures, and blood are stored properly and within acceptable limits.
- Identifies, communicates, and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Ensures potential special processing donors are identified and go through proper receiving paths.
- Packages and prepares donor tissue for required shipments
- Responsible to be on call for environmental monitoring and equipment.
Tissue Receiving Coordinator II
1. Completion of Section A or B
2. Employee has communicated interest in cross training on opposite section
3. Must be willing to train as opportunities arise regardless of shift
Tissue Receiving Coordinator III
- All Essential functions of Tissue Receiving Coordinator A and B.
- Responsible for being on call for donor tissue.
Tissue Receiving Coordinator IV
- All Essential functions of Tissue Receiving Coordinator III.
- In the absence of a team leader ensures all daily tasks are performed accurately.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Tissue Receiving Coordinator I
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Intermediate computer literacy.
- Solid problem-solving, decision-making skills and strong attention to detail.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
- Ability to follow directions and serve well as a team member.
- Ability to enter and report numbers accurately.
Tissue Receiving Coordinator II
- Completion of section A or B
- All Education/Experience of Tissue Receiving Coordinator I.
Tissue Receiving Coordinator III
- All Education/Experience of Tissue Receiving Coordinator I
- Competence in all Tissue Receiving Coordinator section A and B training modules.
Tissue Receiving Coordinator IV
- All Education/Experience of Tissue Receiving Coordinator III.
- Employee has communicated interest and has been recommended by management
- Ability and willingness to fill in as a team leader as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
- Must be able to take call and work after hours as needed.
- Requires heavy lifting.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be considered insurable by Solvita insurance provider.
- Must be able to meet the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Demonstrate positive team building behaviors that include effective decision making.
- Ability to be competent in either section of Tissue Receiving Coordinator I training modules and working independently within 6 months.
- Must be able to be on call for levels I (as assigned), II, III, and IV.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree in a health-related field.
- Knowledge of anatomy and sterile technique.
- Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS).
- One year of tissue banking experience.
