Lead Ultrasound Technologist - Ophthalmology, Westwood

Join Ophthalmology's Cataract & Refractive Surgery team as a Lead Ultrasound Technologist, where you'll combine your technical expertise with leadership in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. In this role, you'll oversee the daily operations of the Anterior Segment Diagnostic Laboratory while performing advanced diagnostic testing that directly supports exceptional patient care and outstanding surgical outcomes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including A-scans, B-scans, ultrasound biomicroscopy, OCTs, corneal topography and tomography, endothelial cell counts (ECC), fundus photography, slit lamp photography, and IOL power calculations.
• Conduct specialized echographic examinations, including examinations under anesthesia.
• Oversee the daily operations of the diagnostic laboratory and ensure equipment is functioning optimally.
• Train and mentor ophthalmic technical staff on diagnostic equipment and ultrasound procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation and data entry, including intraoperative aberrometry results.

Salary Range: $69.68-84.92

• 5 years experience training ophthalmic technicians.
• CDOS (Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic Sonographer) through International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology or equivalent advanced training and experience demonstrating the same level of competency
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills including knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology to establish effective working relations with all levels of university staff, faculty, trainees, and patients.
• Ability to work independently without direction.
• Working knowledge of all instruments used in and all diagnostic tests performed by the Anterior Segment Laboratory.
• Ability to work in a cooperative and collegial fashion with all members of the Cataract and Refractive Surgery Division to provide exemplary patient care.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under a variable but often very busy workload.
• Ability to function in a research environment with patients who are enrolled in clinical study protocols.
• Ability to learn new routines quickly, to follow routines consistently, and identify better ways of accomplishing routine tasks.
• Proficiency in Apple and Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word and Excel, email, calendaring programs, and web browsers.
• Demonstrated or acquired competency in office and medical center-based data and electronic records systems (CareConnect/Epic, Kaleidoscope, Axis PACS, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to implement and troubleshoot instrument (modality) connectivity issues including modality worklists and the export of the reports to the PACS system.
