Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $128,084 - $169,711.30. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Industrial Engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a Staff Industrial Engineer to lead high-impact initiatives that enhance productivity, improve quality, and optimize process performance across our operations. In this role, you will be applying lean manufacturing principles to design, improve, and validate manufacturing systems that reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve quality across production operations.

The Staff Industrial Engineer leads the execution and deployment of process capability improvements across S&C value streams and cross-functional operations. This role drives measurable gains in productivity, quality, and operational performance through the disciplined application of advanced Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Operating at a senior level, the Staff Industrial Engineer designs and standardizes Lean systems, provides technical direction for complex improvement initiatives, and ensures consistent application of continuous improvement practices. The role establishes practical standards for production, problem-solving, and process improvement while building sustainable capability within leaders and teams.

This position requires strong analytical expertise, the ability to influence at multiple organizational levels, and a results-focused approach grounded in collaboration and process discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise Lean & Six Sigma Leadership: Support and advance a unified Lean and Six Sigma strategy aligned with S&C's operational and business objectives. Define and integrate enterprise frameworks that combine Lean system design and Six Sigma methodologies to improve productivity, reduce waste, and elevate quality across value streams and cross-functional processes.
  • Capability Building & Technical Mentorship: Serve as a senior technical mentor and thought leader in Lean and Six Sigma. Coach Black Belts, Green Belts, and senior leaders, and develop training that strengthens problem-solving capability, supports leadership effectiveness, and reinforces a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Leadership of High-Impact Improvement Initiatives: Identify, lead, and govern complex, high-impact improvement initiatives with measurable results in cost, quality, delivery, and operational performance. Apply advanced problem-solving tools to address systemic issues, reduce the cost of poor quality, and optimize end-to-end processes.
  • Strategic Deployment & Roadmap Execution: Support and promote a phased, enterprise-wide Lean and Six Sigma deployment roadmap. Ensure alignment between foundational practices and advanced initiatives to drive sustainable improvement and long-term operational transformation.
  • Process & System Improvement: Lead in-depth process and value stream assessments and partner with functional leaders to implement improvements using methodologies such as DMAIC and Kaizen. Embed improvements into standard work and operating procedures to ensure scalability, consistency, and sustained performance.
  • Change Management & Organizational Alignment: Lead value stream-level change management as a core responsibility. Engage senior leaders and cross-functional teams to drive understanding, ownership, and adoption of improvement initiatives. Communicate changes with clarity and consistency to enable effective implementation and minimize resistance.
  • Data Analysis, Governance & Reporting: Apply advanced analytical and statistical methods to assess performance, identify trends, and evaluate improvement effectiveness. Establish and monitor KPIs, and deliver clear, actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership to ensure results are achieved and sustained.
  • Stakeholder Partnership & Influence: Act as a trusted advisor and change agent across the organization. Build strong partnerships, translate complex concepts into practical application, and influence decision-making at multiple levels to accelerate adoption and results.
  • Standards, Compliance & Consistency: Ensure Lean and Six Sigma practices align with company policies, governance expectations, and applicable regulations. Drive consistency in tools, training, and deployment standards to support enterprise-wide operational excellence.

What you'll Need to Succeed:

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, including 5+ years leading enterprise-level continuous improvement initiatives across complex fabrication and assembly environments.
  • Demonstrated delivery of large-scale process improvement results, supported by a portfolio of completed projects generating multimilliondollar, sustained savings within organizations with $250M+ in annual revenue.
  • Expertise in assessing end-to-end processes and designing continuous improvement strategies aligned to business objectives, financial targets, and operational priorities.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, evaluate ROI, and ensure improvement initiatives maximize value and resource effectiveness.
  • Proven people leader with the ability to lead, influence, and develop high-performing teams; coach and mentor others in the application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies; and build long-term organizational capability.
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation, leveraging tools and insights to identify trends, diagnose root causes, and drive fact-based decisions.
  • Strategic problem solver with an enterprise mindset, able to balance analytical rigor with practical judgment-selecting solutions that are effective, scalable, and appropriately complex.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels-from shop floor teams to Business Unit Leadership-and leading strategic planning discussions and executive-level presentations.
  • Highly effective collaborator with strong interpersonal skills, able to build trusted relationships, navigate and resolve conflict, and foster inclusive, cross-functional partnerships.
  • Demonstrated strength in organizational planning and project management, successfully managing a high volume of diverse, cross-functional initiatives impacting manufacturing and supply chain performance.
  • Deep experience implementing Lean Manufacturing systems, driving measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and statistical tools such as Minitab, with the ability to translate analysis into clear, actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated experience developing area improvement strategy to meet business KPI targets (Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost).
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Lean Manufacturing or TPS
  • Kaizen Facilitation

Preferred

  • Demonstrated experience developing area improvement strategy to meet business KPI targets (Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost).
  • Experienced in promoting and facilitating change in manufacturing and transactional functional settings.

Education/Certifications or License

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting: Continuously required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks for hours at a time.
  • Walking: Occasionally required to walk moderate distances.
  • Communication: Continuously required to talk and hear or otherwise, in person and by phone/conference calls.
  • Observation / Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
  • Lifting: Occasionally required to solo lift supplies weighing from 5 to 20 pounds and some operation of hand carts.
  • Travel: May require travel overnight, domestically and internationally, and work extended hours when necessary.
