Summary Job Description: Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a customer-focused and adaptable Patient Access Coordinator Float to support multiple physician practices and outpatient locations as needed. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and is responsible for delivering an exceptional patient experience through appointment scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, payment collection, and administrative support. The Patient Access Coordinator Float plays a critical role in ensuring accurate patient information, maintaining efficient front-office operations, and supporting providers and care teams across various practice settings. Key Responsibilities Patient Scheduling & Access
- Schedule patient appointments according to established protocols and office procedures.
- Conduct appointment reminder calls and communicate appointment details, location information, and financial responsibilities.
- Accurately document referral information, chief complaints, and appointment details within the scheduling system.
- Coordinate patient scheduling needs across multiple practice locations.
Patient Registration & Insurance Verification
- Greet, check in, and check out patients in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Obtain and update patient demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits through payer websites and verification tools.
- Ensure accurate patient registration and prevent duplicate medical records.
- Educate patients regarding required forms, privacy practices, and financial policies.
- Secure appropriate signatures and documentation required for treatment and information release.
Payment Collection & Financial Responsibilities
- Determine patient financial responsibility and collect co-pays and other payments at the point of service.
- Process receipts and maintain accurate payment documentation.
- Prepare and reconcile daily deposits in accordance with organizational policies.
Patient Communication & Referral Support
- Receive, relay, and document messages between patients and providers.
- Maintain accurate patient records and appointment statuses, including cancellations, no-shows, and rescheduled appointments.
- Process referrals and assist with coordination of care as needed.
- Support patients with questions and provide excellent customer service throughout their healthcare experience.
Administrative Support
- Prepare and manage patient paperwork and medical records documentation.
- Process incoming and outgoing correspondence, mail, and faxes.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Order and maintain office supplies as needed.
- Utilize office technology and software systems to support daily operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- No prior experience required; customer service or healthcare experience is welcomed.
- Ability to work in multiple clinic locations and adapt to changing assignments and schedules.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to accurately collect, verify, and document patient information.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn healthcare registration and scheduling systems.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous medical office, front office, patient registration, scheduling, or healthcare customer service experience.
- Experience with insurance verification and point-of-service collections.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and electronic medical record or practice management systems.
