The USC Alumni Association (USCAA), within the Division of University Advancement, strengthens lifelong connections between the university and more than 500,000 alumni worldwide. Through programs, communications, volunteer leadership, networking opportunities, and signature events, the association cultivates meaningful engagement, celebrates Trojan pride, and inspires philanthropic support for the university.

The Opportunity

The USC Alumni Association is seeking a collaborative and results-driven Marketing Operations Lead to help shape how more than 500,000 Trojan alumni worldwide stay connected to USC through integrated marketing campaigns, strategic communications, and memorable member engagement experiences, including both digital initiatives and in-person activations.

Reporting to the Director, Member Services and Operations and working closely with colleagues across USCAA and USC Advancement, this role serves as a strategic marketing operations partner responsible for managing integrated campaigns, member engagement activations, Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud initiatives, marketing workflows, and data-informed engagement strategies that strengthen connections with alumni across digital and in-person experiences.

This position plays an important role in advancing the Alumni Association's mission by delivering impactful marketing campaigns that support hundreds of alumni programs, events, volunteer opportunities, and member benefits each year. The ideal candidate combines exceptional project management skills with marketing technology expertise, analytical thinking, and a passion for creating meaningful constituent experiences.

This is a hybrid position under our current work arrangement plan, with the expectation of on-site presence on the University Park Campus (UPC) offices.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Operations & Campaign Management (50%)

  • Lead day-to-day marketing operations supporting alumni engagement initiatives, ensuring projects move efficiently from planning through execution.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute integrated marketing campaigns, including both digital and in-person engagement activations that promote alumni programs, benefits, events, and services across digital and traditional communication channels.

  • Manage Salesforce CRM and Salesforce Marketing Cloud initiatives that support targeted communications and marketing automation.

  • Maintain marketing calendars, campaign schedules, production timelines, and quality control processes to ensure timely delivery of projects.

Marketing Communications & Content Development (20%)

  • Develop, write, edit, and manage compelling marketing content, digital communications, and promotional materials that strengthen engagement with alumni, campus partners, and constituents.

  • Ensure communications align with USC brand standards and support the Alumni Association's strategic priorities.

Marketing Analytics & Strategic Insights (10%)

  • Analyze campaign performance, market trends, audience insights, and engagement metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Support market research, surveys, reporting, and data analysis that inform marketing strategies and business decisions.

Marketing Administration & Vendor Coordination (12%)

  • Assist with marketing budget administration and coordinate with internal and external vendors to support successful project delivery.

  • Build and maintain relationships with marketing partners and vendors while ensuring projects remain on schedule and within established guidelines.

Leadership & Collaboration (8%)

  • Provide guidance and direction to student workers supporting marketing initiatives and daily operations.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across University Advancement and university partners to execute high-quality marketing initiatives.

  • Coordinate and support the marketing and execution of alumni events, on-site activations, and engagement initiatives, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Three years of professional experience in marketing, communications, project management, or a related field.

  • Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education and minimum work experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles, campaign management, and business operations.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Salesforce CRM.

  • Experience with WordPress or other content management systems.

  • Experience with Airtable or another project management tool.

  • Experience managing integrated marketing campaigns from planning through execution.

  • Experience analyzing marketing performance and engagement metrics.

  • Experience supporting alumni relations, higher education, nonprofit, association, or membership-based organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across a complex organization.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $78,000 - $81,800. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
