We are seeking a dynamic Director of Digital Merchandising to take the helm of a critical merchandise category. This is an incredible opportunity to make a profound impact, directly influencing strategy, customer experience, and financial performance for a beloved brand. As a Director, Digital Merchandising, you will be a pivotal leader on the Digital team, instrumental in developing and executing a robust digital commerce strategy aimed at achieving substantial top-line and bottom-line growth. You will oversee all day-to-day operations and analytics for your assigned categories across site and app experiences, leveraging your deep product understanding to drive success. This role demands a holistic view of the digital experience, requiring close collaboration with cross-functional partners to deliver an exceptional customer journey and meet ambitious financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

BUILD (Vision and Enable)



  • Drive growth and productivity across all digital channels, ensuring the digital expression of the brand's merchandise assortment strategy.
  • Lead the development of concepts, strategies, planning, implementation, and coordination for the digital business, from pre-season to in-season optimization.
  • Influence the projection, presentation, and overall customer experience for the entire website, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Build and maintain productive partnerships with cross-functional areas, internal stakeholders, external vendors, and resources.
  • Influence the evolution of the digital customer experience, supporting a full omnichannel approach by creating seamless links between various digital platforms.
  • Monitor industry trends in customer behavior and competitive positioning to maintain ongoing awareness and inform strategic decisions.
  • Identify site and customer experience gaps, advocating for new capabilities and improvements to achieve business results.


RUN (Deliver)



  • Ensure an exceptional customer experience through the website by understanding customer needs, shopping behaviors, and navigation patterns that drive conversion.
  • Maintain consistency of digital store standards across all categories, encompassing concepts, ideas, and layouts.
  • Oversee site content management, including responsibility for site messaging and standards for merchandising, creative, and navigation.
  • Play a leadership role and influence key cross-functional partners, including Marketing, Finance, Category Merchants, Planners, Platform teams, and Operations.
  • Prioritize Test & Learn initiatives that impact digital operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support the team in achieving corporate goals, including overseeing recruitment, development, and performance management for direct and dotted-line reports.


RESULTS



  • Take ownership of site analytics, customer behavior insights, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Leverage data and insights to implement data-driven changes and improvements in overall programs, continuously monitoring success over time.
  • Analyze current and projected Return on Investments (ROIs) for all initiatives to support long-term planning for the digital business and required assets.
  • Continuously acquire customer and market insights to drive ongoing site performance improvements.
  • Conduct frequent internal and external evaluations of the site to ensure an optimal customer experience.
  • Communicate strategies and results to the broader business and senior leadership on a regular basis.
  • Utilize insights from customer care centers, surveys, and other customer feedback channels to inform decision-making.
  • Serve as a key contributor in all business meetings, providing valuable strategic input.


What You Bring



  • Proven leadership experience in digital merchandising, with a focus on driving significant top-line and bottom-line growth.
  • Expertise in developing and executing digital commerce strategies for specific merchandise categories.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data and insights to make informed business decisions and monitor performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day operations and analytics for digital site and app experiences.
  • In-depth understanding of product categories and market trends, particularly during peak selling seasons.
  • Experience building and maintaining productive partnerships with diverse cross-functional teams (e.g., Merchandising, Planning, Creative, Marketing, Operations, Customer Care).
  • A holistic view of the digital site experience, with a focus on optimizing customer journeys and conversion.
  • Experience in site content management, including messaging, creative standards, and navigation.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Experience with Test & Learn initiatives and their prioritization in a digital operations context.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and develop a team, including recruitment and performance management.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating strategies and results to various stakeholders, including senior leadership.
