Technical Writer(Consultant, Experience & Design) At Fearless, we are seeking a Technical Writer as part of our Consultant, Experience & Design career path to translate complex technical, strategic, and user experience concepts into clear, actionable documentation for diverse audiences. Working as an integrated member of delivery teams, this role develops project deliverables, implementation documentation, executive reports, technical specifications, content standards, knowledge transfer materials, and user-facing documentation that support successful delivery across digital transformation and technology modernization initiatives. This is a fully remote role. The consultant ensures that products and services are intuitive, accessible, and meet the needs of diverse users.This role will possess and/or develop the skills to be able to span the domains of Content Design, Product Design, Service Design, Content Strategy, and User Research at a practical application level of proficiency. This Consultant role will work on projects that allow them toimplement evidence-based solutions that balance organizational goals with user needs, while fostering inclusive and sustainable design practices across the organization. Your Responsibilities in this Role: * Develop and maintain project documentation including reports, presentations, business goals documents, implementation roadmaps, and client deliverables. * Draft strategic documents including technical requirements strategies, gap analyses, and recommendations aligned to project objectives. * Translate technical concepts into language appropriate for executive leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams. * Collaborate with UX, engineering, product, and architecture teams to document decisions, requirements, workflows, and implementation approaches. * Produce documentation supporting information architecture, content strategy, migration planning, governance, and technical implementation. * Develop meeting summaries, workshop outputs, decision logs, and action registers to maintain project transparency. * Create and maintain templates, documentation standards, and style guides to ensure consistency across deliverables. * Review project deliverables for clarity, grammar, consistency, accessibility, and adherence to plain-language principles. * Support knowledge transfer activities by creating user guides, training materials, operational documentation, and transition artifacts. * Ensure documentation remains current throughout the project lifecycle as priorities and requirements evolve. Work Experience PROJECT SPECIFIC SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * Minimum of 5 years of experience producing technical and business documentation for complex technology or digital transformation initiatives. * Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Information Design, or related field, or equivalent work experience. * Demonstrated experience writing for both executive and technical audiences across multiple stakeholder groups. * Experience documenting software development, digital services, UX, content strategy, or technology modernization projects. * Exceptional written communication, editing, and organizational skills with attention to detail. * Experience synthesizing information from multiple stakeholders into concise, decision-ready documentation. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Confluence, Jira, SharePoint, or similar documentation tools. Preferred Experience * Experience supporting Agile software development teams throughout the delivery lifecycle. * Familiarity with Drupal, CMS modernization, website migrations, or digital service delivery. * Experience with accessibility and plain-language writing standards, including Section 508 compliance. * Experience supporting state or federal government technology projects. * Knowledge of Human-Centered Design and Agile delivery practices.
