Role Overview
We are looking for a Telecommunications Systems Engineer to lead portions of large, complex projects as a telecommunications scope owner. In this role, you will work alongside telecommunications design professionals, supporting design staff, architects, and multidiscipline engineers to produce comprehensive design packages. You will interface directly with clients to design facilities that meet their specific needs. Using AutoCAD and Revit MEP design software, our teams create fully coordinated 3D models across all disciplines (C, S, A, M, E, P, T, I, L). Through a combination of 3D BIM delivery, construction specifications, and 2D sheets, you will help lead the design for:
Outside Plant (OSP) and inter/intra-building backbone distribution systems
Communication room layouts and rack elevations
Wired and wireless device plans
Cable schedules and calculations (in accordance with NEC, applicable TIA, and industry/project specifications)
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
Education: Two-year technical degree OR four-year non-technical degree
Experience: At least 4 years of relevant experience in the telecommunications design and construction industry
Standards & Practices:
Knowledge and application of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards
Knowledge and application of BICSI design practices
Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements
Leadership & Management:
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of design and construction specifications
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Associate degree
Specialized Experience: At least 3 years of telecommunications design experience in semiconductor facilities or data centers
Project Management: Direct project management experience
Software: Working knowledge of 3D BIM software (Revit)
Systems & Networks:
Knowledge and design experience with paging, intercom, and audio-visual (AV) systems
Knowledge of control systems and network topology
Certifications (One or more preferred):
RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
DCDC (Data Center Design Consultant)
OSP (Outside Plant)
RTPM (Registered Telecommunications Project Manager)
