THE POSITION

As a Purchasing Agent for the Pennsylvania State Police, you will help ensure that the agency receives the best value for important materials and services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on acquiring the goods and services needed to support key programs across the department. The role requires careful attention to policies, vendor interactions, and purchasing systems. As a Purchasing Agent, you will perform the following duties:

  • Policy Knowledge: Apply extensive understanding of all purchasing rules and systems
  • Solicitation Work: Prepare and conduct procurement solicitations to secure needed commodities and services
  • Contract Support: Assist subject matter experts with contract administration and purchasing activities
  • Compliance Focus: Follow the requirements of the Right-to-Know Law and support small business initiatives
  • Issue Resolution: Address delivery concerns, invoice conflicts, and proper goods receipt processing

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,827.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
