Responsibilities

This position requires driving Articulating Off-Road Haul Truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, and crushed rock materials at job site. Experienced and trained with an understanding of construction operations involving handling and hauling fill materials, mass excavation activities; clearing and grubbing; and backfilling and compacting.

Other duties to include heavy physical duties on a variety of tasks which are generally either unskilled or semi-skilled in nature. Duties will vary depending on the type of work assigned to crew. Digging, spreading and shoving dirt and gravel using pick and or shovel.

    Ensure the truck receives fuel as required and at the end of each shift.
  • Safely and effectively haul and dump material in designated areas.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing or via radio.
  • Must be able to read and interpret gauges.
  • Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to vehicle before operation, responsible for notifying supervisor if vehicle needs to be repaired
  • The Driver/Operator must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
  • Cleans tools, materials and work areas.
  • Lifts, carries and holds building materials, tool and supplies.
  • Mixes, pours and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other material using hand tools.
  • Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries, wear all site specific mandated protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots and safety glasses
  • Performs a wide variety of manual tasks including pipe assembly, pipe cutting and laying, removal or forms from set concrete, taking layout shots, directing equipment operators on cuts and fills, etc.

Qualifications

Experience & Education/Certificate:

  • 2-5 years of recent haul/driving experience on construction sites.
  • GED/high school diploma or related work experience.
  • Trade school a plus.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Must be able to work well independently or within a team.
  • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and pressure.
  • Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
  • Time Management, thoroughness, customer/client Focus.
