Minimum:
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare, medical office, or patient services environment.
Preferred:
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a medical office, student health center, hospital, or outpatient clinic.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and practice management systems (e.g., Medicat, Epic, Athenahealth, etc.).
- Knowledge of medical insurance, payment posting, and medical terminology.
- Experience with patient registration, appointment scheduling, and customer service.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred but not required.

Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The Healthcare Administrative Specialist is primarily responsible for accurately posting insurance and patient payments to student accounts, ensuring timely account reconciliation, maintaining financial records, and supporting the Student Health Center's revenue cycle operations in accordance with university policies and procedures. As a secondary function, the position provides front desk support by assisting with patient check-in, verifying demographic and insurance information, scheduling appointments, and delivering exceptional customer service. The position maintains the confidentiality of patient information and ensures compliance with
HIPAA regulations while contributing to the efficient operation of the Student Health Center.
