Job Summary

The CenterPoint Energy legal department is looking for acorporateattorney with2to5years of experience with a background withbroadcorporate background inmergers, acquisitions,financingand strategic transactions.

Essential Functions

  • Primarilyprovidelegal advice on and support for:


  • Strategic corporate and mergers and acquisitions mattersandtransactions


  • Public and private debt and equity offerings, commercial paper, credit agreements, letters of credit and other corporate treasury matters


  • Hedging and derivatives matters

  • Alsoprovidelegal advice on and support forsecurities laws and public company disclosure matters related to the above, including supporting the review of Exchange Act filings





  • Demonstrating an ability to collaborate across functional groups in the company outside of the legal departmentand in particular the company's Treasury and Strategic Transactions groups





  • Influencing and providingtimelyand effective legal and business advice and support at all organizational levels on complex transactions





  • Participating in mandatory emergency operations plan procedures



Education Description

Bachelor's degreeand a J.D. (Doctor of Jurisprudence) degreerequiredfrom an accredited law school.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of corporate experienceat alargelaw firmand/or as in-house counsel. Must beeligibleto practiceinat least one state in the United States, preferablyTexas.



  • Experiencewith matters relating tomergers and acquisitions,securities, finance and credit agreements, capital markets, strategic transactions.



Experience Continued


  • Experiencewithfinancialreporting, corporategovernanceand complex commercial transactionsis a plus.





  • Experience inenergy and utilities, including electric generation, transmission anddistribution, and natural gasdistributionis a plus.
