ABOUT THE ROLE

The Yard & Shipping Manager oversees yard operations, dispatch, and driver coordination to ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials to job sites. This role is responsible for scheduling, compliance, and logistics planning, including load sequencing, routing, and regulatory requirements. The Manager leads yard and driver personnel while ensuring efficiency, safety, and accountability across all shipping operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Oversee dispatch operations and coordinate delivery schedules with Field Service teams
  • Review and manage load lists based on delivery sequence and product weights
  • Plan routes, calculate load weights, and ensure proper blocking and transport setup
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, permits, and licensing requirements
  • Manage fuel tracking, mileage reporting (IFTA), and state reimbursements
  • Schedule maintenance and coordinate with shop mechanics
  • Supervise and schedule yard staff and truck drivers based on workload
  • Approve timecards and manage vacation scheduling for team members
  • Coordinate with Patch & Finish team on product readiness for shipment
  • Maintain clear communication across teams to ensure smooth operations


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with strong experience in logistics, dispatch, and transportation compliance. They excel at coordinating complex schedules, managing teams, and ensuring shipments are accurate and on time. This individual is proactive, organized, and confident in making decisions that keep operations running efficiently.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and contractors
  • Understanding of field erection processes and jobsite material needs
  • Ability to read and interpret fuel logs and mileage reports
  • Knowledge of prorate licensing and multi-state transport requirements
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a large team


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
