The Registered Nurse's responsibilities in Radiation Oncology include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a complex patient population. The RN provides patient and family education, psychosocial and emotional support, and functions as a member of a multidisciplinary care team. This role requires clinical expertise, critical thinking, collaborative practice, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of clinical research principles. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. II. Position Qualifications: Experience/Skills 2. Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an RN in an Ambulatory Oncology setting Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements. Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
