Position Summary : The KEMRON Laborer performs tasks that require primarily physical strength on heavy construction projects and highway construction sites. The Laborer will perform a variety of onsite project tasks possibly involving strenuous manual labor.

Primary duties and responsibilities include :
  • Load and unload trucks, and other material conveyances.
  • Excavate and fill trenches and ditches and set braces to support the sides of excavations.
  • Erect scaffolding on project site.
  • Move supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
  • Stack materials for storage or binning.
  • Collect refuse, debris, rubble, and salvageable materials.
  • Dig, fill, and tamp earth excavations.
  • Level ground using pick, shovel, other manual or power equipment.
  • Clean/clear culverts and ditches.
  • Cut trees and brush.
  • Operate a variety of manual and power equipment, i.e., lawnmowers.
  • May move and arrange heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliance, as well as heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment.
  • Spread sand and salt on icy roads and walkways.
  • Rake/Pick up leaves and trash.
  • Consistently follow KEMRON and OSHA safety policies and procedures, bringing any problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Director or HR Manager.
  • Follow daily procedures, policies, and protocols as set forth in job orientation, training, and onsite tailgate meetings.
  • Assist site personnel in the safe execution of all project work.
  • Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction area.
  • Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Excavate and fills trenches and ditches
  • Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and assist to secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
Required Qualifications and Skills :
  • Any combination of training, skills, and experience that demonstrate the knowledge and ability to perform the work of a Laborer.
  • Willingness and ability to perform strenuous manual work following verbal instruction.
  • The ability to work safely around a remediation construction project site where multiple pieces of equipment and site personnel are performing separate tasks.
  • Knowledge of proper use of hand tools and power equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Skill and experience to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Knowledge to safely and appropriately use power equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Additional Qualifications Preferred :
  • 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operator (HAZWOPER) training.
  • Current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training.
  • Current, clear motor vehicle record, meeting KEMRON vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Certified first aid and CPR training.
  • Primary residence located within 50 miles of project site.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy truck and equipment operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Pass required medical monitoring HAZWOPER physical exam.
  • Good eyesight and excellent eye-hand coordination.
  • Good judgment to safely and correctly follow steps necessary to perform complicated tasks.
  • Work closely, safely, and respectfully with other employees/positions on site without continuous supervision.
  • Ability to remain constantly alert and observant of surroundings.
  • Regularly perform tasks in outside weather conditions, including rain, extreme heat, wet and/or humidity.
  • Physical and mental stamina to safely and productively work 8-10 hour shifts with minimal meal/rest breaks.
  • Ability to perform safely while exposed to vibration, dust, asphalt, and/or hazardous material.
  • Satisfactorily and safely perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion with potential exposure to adverse weather conditions.
  • Will frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Withstand daily loud and possibly continuous noise level using proper hearing protection.
  • Ability to frequently or continuously use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
  • Manual dexterity to reach with both hands and arms, often in repetitive patterns.
  • Easily and safely walk short distances, sometimes over uneven terrain.
  • For specific projects, must pass physical exam to work while using respiratory protection including Air Purifying Respirators and supplied air respirators.
  • Read, understand and sign-off on Corporate and worksite Health and Safety Plan(s).
  • Apply good judgment in order to perform complicated tasks and to work closely with other site personnel without constant supervision.
  • Perform work in an environment near moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
