Description:
- The Competitive Intelligence team's mission is to provide the analytical foundations that inform how we build and grow our products. We do so by monitoring and analyzing the trends, players, and technologies driving our industry, identifying consumer needs, adding structure to ambiguous problems, and framing key decisions for our leaders.
- This role supports Reality Labs (VR, AR, Wearables, and Horizon). Successful candidates for this position will have or develop a deep understanding of the product landscape, including trends, players, technologies, and underlying dynamics. They will independently drive research and analysis, using data sources and AI tools (e.g., LLMs) to surface industry insights that influence the long-term product roadmap. The ideal candidate will have solid data analysis skills, good product sense, project management skills, and structured thinking & communication.
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong research, analytics, modeling, and data-visualization skills, including advanced proficiency with Excel/Sheets, working knowledge of SQL (comfortable manipulating large datasets and writing their own queries), and fluency using AI tools (e.g. LLMs) to accelerate research and analysis
- Demonstrated experience structuring and solving analytical problems
- High ownership and proactivity - able to independently drive projects (especially Industry Insights) from ambiguity to a decision-ready output
- Demonstrated experience of presenting to leadership and influencing product decisions
Nice-to-have Skills:
- Master's degree or equivalent in business, marketing, analytics, engineering, or other related quantitative discipline (e.g. MBA)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in management consulting, strategy, business operations, investment banking and/or program management
- Experience in VR/AR, gaming, wearables, or consumer hardware, and the broader consumer internet space (social, media, and entertainment)
- Preference for candidates to have undergrad/grad school experience at leading institutions.
Years of overall experience required:
- 5+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, data analytics/data science, business operations and/or program management
- 3+ years of experience leading projects that incorporated data strategy/analytics/data science at a consulting firm, in a corporate strategy team, at an investment bank, or similar
Degrees/certifications required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, marketing, analytics, engineering, or other related quantitative discipline (e.g. MBA). Preference for undergrad/grad school experience at leading institutions.
Responsibilities:
- Data Management: Use 3P services to compile and organize benchmarking data on an ongoing basis
- Data Visualization: Transform raw data into tables/charts/graphs for presentations
- Research: Find, collect, and synthesize information from external and internal sources, using AI tools to accelerate the work
- Analysis: Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information to surface industry insights Communication: Build, share, and present work to leaders and teammates as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, data analytics/data science, business operations and/or program management
- 2+ years of experience leading projects that incorporated data strategy/analytics/data science at a consulting firm, in a corporate strategy team, at an investment bank, or similar
- Experience in analytics, modeling, and data visualization, including advanced proficiency with Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides, Word/Docs, and working knowledge of SQL
- Fluency using AI tools (e.g., LLMs) to accelerate research and analysis
- Demonstrated experience structuring and solving analytical problems
- High ownership and proactivity - able to independently drive projects like Industry Insights from ambiguity to a decision-ready output
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders/teams to achieve outcomes

Surrounding team & key projects:
- They will drive the Industry Insights program for VR, with the flexibility to support the broader Reality Labs team as needed. They'll be managing data-heavy workflows, and need to be competent in modeling, managing large data sets, and turning that into clear charts and narratives.
How will performance be measured:
- Meeting deadlines, being able to present and influence product decisions, completing tasks with accuracy and attention to detail will be key.

Interview Process:
- How many rounds of interviews: 3 rounds
- Types of Interviews: 1st is with the hiring manager focused on product, data sense, and fit, 2nd will be an analytical skills interview, 3rd will be a behavioral interview focused on drive, ownership, and proactivity
