IMEG is hiring a Lighting Intern in Madison, WI. This role supports experienced architectural lighting designers with design and documentation tasks, including luminaire selections, lighting layouts, illuminance-target calculations, client presentations, and design documentation in Revit or, less frequently, AutoCAD.

You will work within project monetary budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. The role also supports coordinated building-system delivery and integrated building technology work.

• Assist with design portions of discipline-system projects according to code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching commercially available equipment.
• Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
• Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier disciplines.
• Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
• Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check.
• Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement.

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Architectural Engineering, or Theatrical Lighting Design, Interior Design or equivalent required

• Strong interest in architectural lighting design consulting
• Previous exposure to CAD and/or Building Information Model software
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

• Retrieved work points to a K-12 education project centered on a community education and recreation facility. The scope combines MEP, technology, AV, and security systems, which suggests a team that is especially strong in coordinated school-facility systems delivery and integrated building technology.
• The project also calls out BIM as a featured capability, which is a useful sign of coordinated design workflow on this team.
