Job Description

The UMKC Institute for Human Development, University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (IHD) is an applied research and training center for human services designed to exemplify the University's goals of engaged scholarshipand community partnerships.Its functions include interdisciplinary training, applied research, community program development and information dissemination. The LifeCourse Nexus Training and Technical Assistance Center, housed at UMKC Institute for Human Development, is designed to support the "intersect of Charting the LifeCourse ideas, collaboration and transformation." As the definition of "nexus" implies, it is the central place that connects or links groups, things, and ideas together. The LifeCourse Nexus provides an infrastructure to a growing network of implementers on the Charting the LifeCourse framework to learn from one another, share stories, and participate in opportunities to build one another's capacity. In addition, the Nexus serves as a research center, partnering with people and organizations who are using CtLC as a lens to enhance and innovate existing resources, training, and practices, and/or to develop new promising practices, resources, trainings, or products. The Nexus then disseminates these innovations, through access to resources and materials, and providing training and technical assistance.

The LifeCourse Nexus is seeking an experienced and resourceful leader to serve as the Training Coordinator.

This role will assist program leads and training faculty in delivering quality training that meet the needs of the learner. Candidates will manage the operational flow of the LifeCourse Nexus Training Center courses and events from scheduling and registration through completion and credential issuance. They will serves as the primary point of contact for participants, faculty and staff, ensuring that participants can register, access courses, receive communications, attend live sessions, complete requirements, and receive certificates or badges when appropriate. This role is highly collaborative and is a key contributor to the successful development and expansion of CtLC training and knowledge translation goals across multiple systems in Missouri and across the country.

Specifically, the Training Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate the scheduling and operational setup of courses, webinars, virtual meetings, and cohort-based training offerings.
  • Manage registration, enrollment, cancellations, substitutions, and participant rosters across relevant systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for learners and respond to questions about registration, course access, schedules, completion requirements, certificates, and badges.
  • Coordinate Zoom meetings and webinars, confirm facilitator and support assignments, and provide basic live-session support as needed.
  • Track attendance, course completion, and credentialing requirements, and ensure certificates or badges are issued accurately and on time.
  • Maintain accurate records and information across Canvas, Canvas Catalog, Salesforce, Accredible, Zoom, and other Training Center platforms.
  • Prepare and distribute clear, timely, and consistent communications to learners, trainers, coaches, and support staff before, during, and after training activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Structure:

The Training Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Training and Educational Support. This position is housed on the University of Missouri Kansas City campus. Out of state applicants will be considered, if it is understood that there will be requirements of Kansas City meetings and office hours throughout the year. Some travel may be required, depending on contracts and grants.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated relevant experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple courses, schedules, rosters, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate registration, attendance, completion, and credentialing records.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with learners, trainers, staff, and community partners.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assist individuals with varying levels of technical knowledge and comfort.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple technology platforms, troubleshoot routine access or registration issues, and recognize when an issue requires escalation.
  • Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, exercise sound judgment, and communicate progress, concerns, and operational needs to the appropriate team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
  • Preferred bachelor degree in business administration or communications.
  • One or more years of experience coordinating professional development, continuing education, online learning, credentialing, webinars, or cohort-based training.
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $21.63 per hour to $28.85 per hour.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
