STUDENT PROGRAM FORMAT

This student program will follow an in-person model. Students will be based at a Stellantis manufacturing facility in the Metro-Detroit area and are expected to work on-site 3 to 5 days per week, depending on business needs. Students are expected to work 24 hours per week, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Candidates who are selected for the program will work with their manager to determine a consistent weekly work schedule where candidates fulfill the 24-hour requirement, while balancing their class schedule. During the summer months, student employees may potentially work 40 hours per week. This determination will be at management's discretion. Applications are accepted year-round, and student program cohorts start on a quarterly basis in January, April, June, and September, and students are intended to stay in the program until graduation.

Students experience a sense of personal accomplishment and learn about the corporate business culture through work assignments, structured activities, and exclusive student networking events.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Join our Human Resources (HR) team as an HR Generalist student employee, where you'll gain hands-on experience supporting hourly workforce operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for students interested in employee relations, onboarding, and HR operations within a unionized setting.

Key responsibilities:



  • Assist with day-to-day employment office functions, including leave tracking, reinstatements, and employee inquiries.


  • Support onboarding and orientation sessions for new hourly employees.


  • Help maintain accurate employee records and documentation.


  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and plant culture-building efforts.


  • Assist in the administration of national and local collective bargaining agreements.


  • Collaborate with HR and operations teams to ensure a positive employee experience.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university


  • Willing to work in a manufacturing environment


  • Ability to work 24 hours per week, year-round



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Strong interest in employee relations, HR operations, and workforce planning


  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint)


  • Exposure to or coursework in employment law, HR management, or organizational behavior


  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-service mindset


  • Experience working in a team setting or supporting administrative processes
