What You'll Do
As an Inpatient Social Worker, you will be at the heart of our treatment efforts, collaborating daily with Psychiatrists and Therapists as part of the primary treatment team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Uphold and apply clinical knowledge and understanding of emotional and behavioral health practices and principles
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the psychosocial services for patients and share social work expertise with members of the treatment team within the average length of stay of 7-10 days
- Develop and revise treatment and complex hospital discharge plans and communicate these with patients, caretakers, the treatment team, and direct care staff
- Provide psychoeducation to patients, caretakers, the treatment team, and direct care staff regarding diagnosis, symptom management, recommendations, discharge plans (including leading discharge meetings), safety plans, patient rights, financial impact issues, and other pertinent patient care matters
- Communicate effectively with external providers, agencies, and government and private payer networks to develop relationships and refer patients to the next appropriate levels of care following hospitalization
- Lead child, adolescent, and young adult therapy/process groups on the inpatient units
- Within the training process, complete Think: Kids: Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) training and recognize that Kids Do Well If They Can. Participate in using the CPS Assessment and Planning tool to help kids develop skills for their challenging behaviors.
- Oriented to ethically provide and advocate for patient-centered, culturally appropriate, age-appropriate care
