Summary

The Product Engineer provides technical ownership of product development from concept through production launch for automotive and industrial applications. This role is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of electromechanical, electrical, and/or mechanical products and systems. The Product Engineer serves as the primary technical lead for assigned programs, ensuring products meet customer requirements for performance, reliability, safety, quality, cost, manufacturability, and timing.

Working independently and as part of cross-functional teams, the Product Engineer collaborates with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and program management teams to successfully develop and launch innovative products. This position may focus on mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical systems depending on business needs and individual expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development from concept through production launch, ensuring technical, quality, cost, timing, and customer requirements are achieved.
  • Design and develop mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical products, assemblies, and systems for automotive and industrial applications.
  • Develop technical solutions, engineering specifications, BOMs, CAD models, drawings, schematics, and related product documentation.
  • Perform and support design validation, simulation, testing, DFMEA, and product qualification activities.
  • Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) efforts and collaborate with manufacturing to ensure robust, cost-effective production processes.
  • Manage engineering changes, product releases, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and work closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and program management to achieve project objectives.
  • Support product launches, PPAP/APQP activities, pre-production builds, process validation, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities to improve product performance, manufacturability, quality, and cost.
  • Provide technical presentations, customer support, and engineering leadership throughout program execution.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality systems.
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and problem-solving activities related to product performance and production issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, design engineering, or product engineering within automotive, industrial, transportation, or related industries.
  • Fluency in both Korean and English, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience leading engineering development activities from concept through production launch.
  • Experience designing and releasing mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical products.
  • Working knowledge of design validation, DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, and engineering change management processes.
  • Experience using CAD and engineering development tools applicable to the discipline (Creo, CATIA, NX, AutoCAD Electrical, Capital, Zuken, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as metal stamping, injection molding, machining, wire harness assembly, PCB assembly, or electromechanical assembly.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including mechanical, electrical, thermal, and reliability principles.
  • Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-voltage automotive systems, power distribution, wiring systems, connectors, busbars, or electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with vehicle electrical architecture, power electronics, battery systems, or controls integration.
  • Experience with mechanical analysis, thermal management, structural design, and materials engineering.
  • Knowledge of FEA, CFD, thermal simulation, circuit analysis, electrical testing, or system validation methodologies.
  • Experience with mechatronic products integrating mechanical, electrical, and software-controlled functions.
  • Familiarity with automotive OEM and Tier 1 product development processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Design for Six Sigma methodologies.

Physical Demands:

The employee must frequently do hand motions and repetitive tasks including computer use with typing, must occasionally carry and lift up to 50 pounds to perform various duties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally do immediate reaching and overhead reaching, frequent standing for varied amounts of time to perform various duties, frequent walking for varied amounts of time, and squatting or bending to perform various duties. Occasionally climb stairs.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
