What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a driven and innovative Gr7 Reproductions Equipment Operator (Lead) to oversee and produce high-impact printed material in support of Sandias mission.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Instruct, assign work and provide assistance to lower-graded reproduction equipment operators
  • Provide first level of production floor supervision of represented personnel working in the activity
  • Report to department management concerning maintenance, supply, and equipment requirements and/or needs for budgeting and other operational or administrative purposes; maintain and order supplies
  • Maintain computer database or usage
  • Provide direct consultation to customers concerning process input requirements including both analog and digital requirements
  • Consult with administrative personnel and/or management to define production priorities, scheduling, and processes to be used to satisfy customer requirements
  • Report to management concerning represented employee performance, attendance and career development for consideration by management in the conduct of Performance Management

As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly dues or agency fee.

Representative machines, equipment, tools, and gauges used include:

High-speed (150 sheet/minute and above) black and white duplicating equipment, high-speed (up to 60 sheet/minute) color duplicating equipment, flatbed scanners, automatic document feeders, digital editing pads, collator bins, diazo, vacuum frame, offset duplicators; electrostatic duplicating and associated equipment; direct image camera; office type duplicator; automatic collator; photostat; embossograph; vacuum cleaners; light motor vehicles. Hand tools such as cleaning brushes, folding bone, scissors, knives, staples, print trimmer, oil can, screwdriver, pliers, wrenches, and amp/voltmeter. Computers and software: Familiarity with desktop and laptop computers and software associated with desktop publishing.

Qualifications We Require

  • Under direct supervision, operate higher speed duplicators (135 sheets/minute and above) as assigned.
  • Operate other office reproduction equipment and perform bindery operations as required to meet deadlines and support customer requirements.
  • Handle supplies, maintain storage areas, request materials, prepare job records, keep work area clean and orderly, and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Instruct, assign work, and provide assistance to lower graded personnel in the servicing of reproduction requests and operation and servicing of reproduction equipment.
  • Instruct and provide assistance to both customers and lower-graded personnel in the use of computers and software used for the transfer of digital data files to various duplicating equipment.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers wishing to transfer digital data across the internal network.
  • Serve customers as the first point of contact for resolving any customer dissatisfaction or disputes about products delivered.
  • Assure that job records and production detail/estimates are routed from the production floor to the billing process function for recovery of costs from customers.
  • Provide immediate oversight of quality of goods produced on the production floor. Maintain activity records and report to supervision regarding the various categories of services performed.
  • Review quality of color, alignment, pagination, imposition and bindings of finished documents. Maintain shipping log and computerized closeout of work order.
  • Clean and perform the maintenance authorized of key operators by the vendor of the equipment.
  • Maintain reproduction quality and make appropriate changes to assure conformance to customer specifications.
  • As required, resolve minor difficulties of operation of equipment using vendor troubleshooting guides and refer more difficult problems to supervision or higher graded personnel.
  • Obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire

  • 5 years of experience working with reproduction equipment
  • Experience with Ricoh reproduction equipment
  • Experience with Fiery software and workstations
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and Acrobat
  • Experience safeguarding and transporting classified material

Security Clearance
