Now Hiring: Dispatcher

Location: Boise, ID Yard

We are seeking an organized, customer-focused Dispatcher to join our team at our Boise, ID Yard location. In this role, you will serve as the communication hub between customers, drivers, yard personnel, and operations teams, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of building materials.

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the assignment of vehicles, drivers, and delivery routes to ensure efficient transportation of building materials. This position works closely with customers, drivers, warehouse personnel, and management to facilitate on-time deliveries, resolve transportation issues, and maintain accurate dispatch records.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dispatch & Route Coordination

  • Coordinate and assign vehicles and drivers to delivery routes based on customer needs, delivery requirements, vehicle availability, and route efficiency.
  • Review daily delivery schedules and establish routes to maximize service levels and operational productivity.
  • Dispatch orders to warehouse and lift operators for timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor driver activities and maintain communication through two-way radio and other communication systems.
  • Record departure and return times, destinations, cargo information, and delivery status updates.


Customer Service & Problem Resolution

  • Serve as a key point of contact for customers regarding delivery schedules, order status, and transportation inquiries.
  • Investigate and resolve issues involving delayed, missing, damaged, or misrouted shipments.
  • Communicate proactively with customers and internal teams to ensure service expectations are met.
  • Work collaboratively with drivers and operations personnel to address delivery challenges and adjust schedules as needed.


Operations & Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate dispatch logs, transportation records, and vehicle utilization information.
  • Track vehicle mileage, fuel usage, repair history, and maintenance-related expenses.
  • Monitor vehicle and driver availability to support efficient fleet utilization.
  • Assign driver helpers as necessary to support delivery operations.
  • Assist with reporting, recordkeeping, and other administrative functions related to dispatch operations.


Safety & Compliance


  • Promote compliance with company safety standards, transportation policies, and operating procedures.



  • Support a culture of safety by communicating expectations and helping coordinate safe transportation activities.



  • Participate in safety meetings, operational training, and continuous improvement initiatives.



  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.




Qualifications
Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of dispatching, transportation, logistics, customer service, or related experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment within an active yard operation.
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods while utilizing computers, telephones, radios, and dispatch systems.
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk throughout the facility or yard.
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, dust, and varying outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise levels in the work environment are generally moderate.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with drivers, customers, and operations personnel throughout the workday.
