TITLE: Safety Coordinator A


POSITION OBJECTIVE:


Establish and oversee the health and safety processes for the Profile Plant. Take into consideration industry regulations and the specific risks in Profile to ensure normal work activities are handled safely. Train employees on safety protocols and enforce them if they're not being followed properly. Respond when workplace accidents happen, creating reports and determining ways to prevent similar accidents.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience in the Safety field
  • Typing and clerical skills
  • Understanding of OSHA guidelines and other state and local safety regulations
  • Familiarity with the tools, machines, and equipment used in the workplace
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to teach others the established safety standards
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy skills and comfort with various types of technology used in the industry
  • Ability to work well as a team and interact with different groups of people


  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.


  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
  • Conduct Safety meetings
  • Designs, develops, and implements safety and health programs and ensures compliance with all regulations, including federal, state, local, and OSHA.
  • Provide safety training to employees.
  • Assist managers in the investigation of accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents, and developing corrective and preventive action responses.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation and reports.
  • Ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) documents and records are identifiable, controlled and maintained in an organized, quickly retrievable manner, and timely submission to State and Federal agencies as required.
  • Stay updated on local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Coordinate safety drills and emergency response plans.
  • Promote a safety culture within the organization.
  • Serve as a point of contact for safety concerns and inquiries.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers.
  • Maintain inventory of PPE, first aid kits,
  • Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed and new equipment introductions.
  • Evaluate and analyze injury trends.
  • Issue fire watch permits.
  • Assist injured employees by evaluating and treating injuries and transporting injured employees to the hospital if necessary.
  • Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently with a multitude of tasks.
  • Support management's efforts to ensure compliance with applicable Inteplast Policies/Procedures, federal and state law.
  • Learn and maintain Profile's recycling program.
  • Follow safe work practices, keeping oneself and others free from harm and danger.
  • Willing to learn and follow instructions from superiors.
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance, and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.



TRAINING:



  • Inteplast Basic Required Training (IBRT, OSHA)
  • ISO Awareness
  • On-the-job training relating specifically to Profile's risk factors and safety procedures.



AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:



  • Schedule all employees for safety training - IBRT, Hearing, CPR, Crane, Arc Flash, Lock Out/Tag Out, Operation Clean Sweep
  • Conduct Accident Investigations
  • Conduct Risk Assessments
  • Conduct Safety Meetings



MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:



  • Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist. Example: Changing paper in printer, copier machine.
  • Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Example: Giving signals, reaching for material or handle on item.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. Example: Making copies, giving presentations, directing traffic.
  • Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
  • Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. DEGREE OF LIFTING: 5-25 lbs.
  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; via face to face or telephone.
  • Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 dB loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  • Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Example: Filing, sorting mail, starting ignition of machinery.



VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:



  • Walkthrough Inspections: Scanning floors and work areas for stray hazards, blocked exits, or spills.
  • Behavior Observation: Watching active tasks to verify teams follow safety steps.
  • PPE Compliance Checks: Visually confirming workers wear safety glasses, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves/sleeves, steel-toed shoes.
  • Equipment Auditing: Checking machinery guards and warning labels.
