Description:
Responsible for maintaining the project cost accounting system by ensuring all commitments, change orders, progress billings, and forecasts are entered timely and accurately.
Responsibilities:
* Manage the financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
* Conduct month-end close processes for project-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Prepare variance analysis reports for project budgets, identifying and explaining discrepancies.
* Monitor project billing schedules and revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
* Oversee detailed balance sheet reconciliations for project accounts and ensure alignment with general ledger entries.
* Collaborate with project managers to review financial performance and provide insights into cost optimization.
* Prepare and analyze financial reports for stakeholders, summarizing key project metrics and results.
* Develop and implement process improvements to enhance project accounting accuracy and efficiency.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable accounting regulations.
* Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations related to project accounts.
* Contribute to special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required by management.
Qualifications:
* A four-year degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience; and at least 5 years of related experience
* Understands accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, general ledger, Accrual, etc.)
* Possess working knowledge of ERP systems, Oracle preferred
* Must be deadline oriented, self-starter and able to work in a thriving fast-paced environment
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to plan and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving skillset
* Proficient with MS Excel and MS Office
* Ability to work independently, with some oversight, and in team environment
* Must have good work ethic and integrity, dependable, adaptable, cooperative, and motivated to take on new responsibilities
* Professional demeanor with a positive, solution-seeking attitude
* Ability to think critically & analytically and make sound decisions to effectively drive important project issues to effective resolution
