Job Description

The Research Analytics team in the Division of Research, Innovation, and Impact (RII) is seeking a Data Analyst II who will translate business needs into technical solutions that support the university's research mission. This person will create sustainable data analytics and reporting workflows that will impact the entire university. Daily tasks include using business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI) to create reports, query objects, analyze and interpret data trends, and provide guidance and thought-leadership to functional and technical teams. This role will independently lead projects that may involve multiple departments and serve as a research analytics subject matter expert. A successful candidate will have demonstrated problem solving, communication, and organizational skills. Previous experiences in research administration, research analytics, higher education, and the implementation of artificial intelligence tools is preferred. Key Responsibilities

* Develop end-user reports aligned with stakeholder priorities, including interactive dashboards and impactful data visualizations using Power BI, Excel, and R.
* Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and workflows (e.g., in Microsoft Fabric) to support reporting and analytics needs. Extract, transform, and load data from multiple internal university as well as external data sources.
* Perform process improvement and implement solutions to innovate technical solutions, improve data quality, and increase efficiency across the research enterprise.
* Effectively translate technical analyses into clear, actionable business insights. Professionally communicate and collaborate with colleagues from multiple university departments.
* Engage in other research administration activities related to supporting our researchers using data-informed approaches, such as reviewing funding programs, creating collaboration networks, and utilizing artificial intelligence.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm CST

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of experience in designing and maintaining data pipelines, workflows, and semantic models

2+ years of demonstrated growth with increasing responsibility and complexity clearly shown and articulated in your application

2+ years experience with statistical and programming languages and tools, such as Python and advanced Excel (e.g., Power Query, macros)

1+ years of experience working with MS Power BI and Fabric

1+ years experience working in higher education, preferably in research administration, finance, and/or analytics

1+ years experience with SQL and familiarity with relational/dimensional data

1+ years using artificial intelligence tools and technologies to improve business processes, enhance decision-making, and increase operational efficiency

Knowledge of sponsored projects administration preferred. Customer service experience (of any kind) preferred. Experience with high visibility and/or fast turnaround deliverables preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year
